Apple Watch 2 leak hints at a bigger battery and built-in camera

The buzz around Apple Watch hasn’t even died yet, and rumors of its successor have already started to surface online. Korean publication Digital Daily dishes out the first scoop about the Apple Watch 2, and reveals that the smartwatch may be a standalone wearable with a bigger battery and in-built camera.
The report states that there aren’t any differences in the successor in terms of design, display or even resolution. However, the company is rectifying the biggest pain point existing on the current Apple Watch – the draining battery. The company will embed a bigger battery into the Apple Watch 2 to improve performance.
Even though there isn’t any changes in terms of design, the report does note that Apple is looking to make the Apple Watch 2 a little more lighter and thinner. It could also include a camera that may make it possible for users to FaceTime via the Watch.
Currently, the Apple Watch needs to be paired with the iPhone in order to make or receive calls and texts.  In what could be a significant improvement if it is introduced, the Apple Watch 2 will work without the iPhone and function as a standalone device, even while making phone calls or texts. This would be in line with what Apple announced at WWDC last month. It will soon be releasing watchOS 2, which brings features like third-party app support, new watch faces among others.
Lastly, unlike the last time where LG shipped all the displays for the Apple Watch, this time Samsung will do part shipment along with LG. The Apple Watch will not be launched until 2016, but just like last time, we may see an unveil in September.
